1% would be 2hp at the wheels. Cheapest mod available for our car.

If it cannot be measured it's probably not realistically doing anything.

Would really love some info on this. Like a before and after, same day dyno.
just remember that we have to use absolute temperature (rankine if we're using F and kelvin if we're using C. ) I would also love to see the results!

If you're going to do this mod-----no need to remove or replace any of the hoses---just go to your nearest hardware store and pick up a couple of 5/16 ball bearings and pull the hose off between the cylinder head and IAC and put the bearings in--put the hose back on and you're done.

The bearings completely block off the coolant flow to the IAC.

They're easily removable if you ever want them out (just remove the hose and run a straight piece of coat hanger thru the hose to push the bearings out)

Takes 3 minutes and a couple of bearings run less than a buck

The reason I relocated all the lines was because my car is an 01 and all the lines are getting old. I wanted to simplify the system as well, less runs = less places for thinsg to go wrong!

okay, so I got a question asking about an update:
-------------------------------
bjjs2k has sent you this email from https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/index.php.

Hey quick question, how is your coolant bypass working so far? I noticed that you bypassed the iacv along with the throttle body, any ill effects you found out later, or its working totally fine? Was just curious, thanks!
-----------------
but seeing as how the PM system doesnt work yet, let me update you guys here:

I have not had ANY problems whatsoever after doing this bypass. Keep in mind I live in hawaii so the coolant temp is relatively stable year round.

The TB still heatsoaks when loafing around town/idle, but at night I know it is making a difference. The temp of the TB after a fun freeway run/mountain run is cold to the touch. If I had a good heat isolating gasket on the intake manifold I'm sure it'll be even better.

Bump. Anyone else in warm climates do this?

I bumped this thread rather then make a new one, because it has some good info.

I wouldn't expect any real hp gain at wot. The gains, if any, would be in improved throttle response. That implies a hp gain, just a gain at part throttle, not wot.

But such a gain would be well worth the effort on a sports car like the S.
