Hey,

Just thinking is it possible to remove the heat shield that lines the bonnet or hood? Guessing it's advisable not to but the CF bonnets don't need it... is that due to that materials specific heat properties?

Alot of hondas dont have it. Im sure u dont need it but who really knows!

Just something that if Honda chucked it in I am sure that it would be there for a reason, be it for noise or heat reduction purposes... I am just worried more so of the heat affecting the paint on the hood more than anything as noise is just accepted with this car


I have searched other forums on the net and they say it's more just for noise damping, but just trying to confirm it specifically for this car...

I cut holes for hood vents, and had to remove it. Never did put it back in.

Neither had others on this forum...

Cheers, I thought that as well (diy hood cutting) so i have already removed it

added roughly 5rwhp and increased power to weight by like 5%

lol yep, I just did it because mine was looking a bit tatty.. be VERY careful when removing the clips though as they can snap and fall into the bonnet... Also the entire bonnet isn't painted (well mine isn't)...

no problems so far, and since CR doesn't have it then it'll be fine

It is there for fire supression. Removing it will let under hood heat escape easier this reducing underhood temps. Unless you get an engine fire no worries at all. I've had mine off for a long time now. Even after driving for hours the hood does not heat up much at all as aluminum is not a good conductor.

It's just for noise. That stuff burns quite nicely.
