Yea I wasted some money on that dang hex socket because there's no space for the rachet or an extension for the rachet.

This sucs.

I stripped four bolts and took out one. My last resort is dremmel tol but wont that leave the threaded part of the screw inside ?

How would I get them out when I have nothing to attach them too ???????

Dremel a slot into the allen bolt so you can put a screwdriver to it (if there's room for that).

Only go about halfway down, if you dremel all the way to the bottom of the bolt you'll just break the head in two.

One other option: find a drill bit just a tad larger than the bolt (shoulder between threads and head) you removed. Drill into the center of the hex socket. As the drill bit breaks through the head, the head of the bolt will come off. Remove the parts, and you will have a piece of the bolt as long as the thickness of the part you removed. Put a pair of vice grips on that; it should come out easy since removing the head took all the tension off the bolt.

Ben (S2KPUDDYDADDY) gave me the best advice in getting a straight shot at the hex bolts... let the differential drop a 1/4 inch but loosening the four bolts from the diff bracket. Then you can remove 1-2 bolts at a time.

I stripped one bolt and thought I would be SOL but I managed to break the torque by moving the lock washer which moved the bolt.

Im SOL and patience.

I managed to remove one bolt.
I let it sit for 2 days with PBblaster.
Torched it with propane thingie.
Used VICEgrips to no avail since there isnt much space to turn but 1 cm.
I have the rotary but I dont think its wise with my luck, I will break bolt and it will get stuck and I will need a new pshaft.

Im just going to pull motor since its disconnected and I will replace one bolt in the pshaft.
Anyon in FT lauderdale Area HELP me out lol !

Thanks alot eveyone.

BIG thanks TO Fatjoe.

I recently just removed my propeller shaft and consulted your guys experiences and recommendations on removing the bolts. What I did was use an Allen/hex (6mm) to socket wrench set and a breaker bar to get most of the bolts out. The angle is pain as the Allen head didn't go straight in and stripped a few of the Allen heads. This is also due to the metal on the head is softer. Then I went to the vice grip method and that took a few more out. Then I had one last bolt where I stripped the Allen head and the rounded head and thought I was SOL. But! I used a flathead to get underneath the retaining brace from the other bolt I removed, used a pair of needle nose pliers to pull down a little bit, and slid a small philips screw driver through the hole once I had enough clearance between the propeller shaft and the tunnel, and swung it downward. If it swings, you broke torque on the bolt. At that point I used a dremel and made slots (like a flathead) and used a flathead and needle nose pliers to spin the bolt out.

This one bolt took took me a few hours and tried various methods but came out victoriously. Thanks for all your input. I'm going to use the Allen/hex/socket method when putting them back on with a wobble extension for the installation of the new bolts.

I have the best trick I never saw listed here, I have removed like 4 drive shafts never one stripped a bolt using this method easy as 123
Use a 1/4inch breaker bar and a stubby socket like this one from snap on
https://store.snapon.com/Hex-Stubby-...--C682756.aspx
Amazon Amazon

its super easy with this method. If you need more tq use a pipe on the breaker bar.

The propshaft can slide forward and backwards. Slide fwd to create enough clearance for socket at diff propshaft bolts, slide back for trans end prop bolts.

Then you'll have enough clearance for socket to straight in.
