Default Removal of cover to secret compartment

Can anyone tell me how to remove the top of the secret compartment? Is it easy? I took a look at it tonight and it seems like there are a couple of stoppers preventing it from coming out. Just wondering if there was another way of removing it rather than my friend's bone head suggestion of just forcing it out. Thanks.

I'm at work so I don't have the Helm manual to look at but I seem to recall it is NOT an easy job. It requires quite a bit of dismantling of the area behind each seat as well as part or all of the center console. Don't try forcing it. You may break more than you would like to pay for later.

Well, I guess now it's not really a "secret" anymore, but it's the compartment between the headrests. Where the windscreen sits. I think it just started out as being a secret compartment, and now the name has just stuck.

I tried to do the same thing to hardwire the V1 back there (as per the post) and removing that piece of the interior is a hellacious pain in the butt. You have to remove the center console (easy) the rear lower panels behind the seats (easy) the rear tray where the top sits when down (not easy) there are a couple screws you can only get once the rear tray is removed. I gave up at that point. I have come to not like the V1 back there anyway so I'm glad I didn't do any non-reversable damage.

If you still want to attemp this I highly suggest getting a helm manual.

I'm not sure I want to know who hadn't found this... I did, the first day I owned it. Before reading the manual, before reading anything on the web... not much of a secret. It also looks like a compartment, with the break lines between it and the roll bars...

It was pretty secret because the dealership didn't even know where it was when I bought the car. You would figure after selling a couple of the cars they would know where it is
