I don't ever remember stalling the car, but I'm surprised I haven't stalled it during one of my wild autocross spins. What factor(s) are blocking VTEC right after a restart?

ever spun out and then the car wouldn't restart? happened to me once. Did a pretty vicious 180 and stalled the car, then it wouldnt restart for about 1 minute, had to pull the key out and wait for a moment and then it cranked fine.

No, for sure I'd remember that.

I'd probably have a heart attack if I spun on an autocross course, killed the engine, and couldn't get it restarted.

I spun during autox one time and kept it on the track. Ended up turning a full 360 and continuing the run. Even with the 360 I was only 3 seconds off the fastest time of the day. They said before the spin I was absolutely hauling ass and if I hadn't spun I'd likely have set the course record for the day. Doh!

yea, i did that two days ago... what's up with that?

go boston.
Maybe its in momentary cold start mode, I'm not sure.

Haha I did a 180 at about 75mph at putnam park, then proceded to go backwards for a second or two then spun a 360 and was still facing backwards on the track. I win for most violent spin lol.

Wow, I guess I'm the cautious one.
I always drive a good 15 min before hitting VTEC.
Even when the temp shows fully warmed up, your tranny might not.

Dan
Damn you're right because it doesn't take the engine that long to warm up, but when you shift it still grinds and what not until like 30 minutes later when the tranny is full warmed up.

I believe this is one of the things I learned from my father, and until I started hanging around here on S2kI I thought it was something almost everyone learned about when they learned to drive.
Same here. It gives me the chills to think people drive their cars hard without a proper warm up.
