Redline MT-85 tranny fluid
#12
I like their tranny fluids, but they are all much thicker than Honda MTF2, and I would be worried about cold temperature operation, in which case Redline MTL might be a better choice as it is thinner than MT-90 and MT85, but still thicker than Honda MTF2. If cold weather operation isn't an issue you may be fine.

You're exactly right. I probably wont drive it much when it's cold, but I guess I'll just have to see "how cold" is acceptable for it's use. Thanks for the reply, very useful.

I've been using MT90 for about 50k miles (10-15k mile change intervals) and recently used MT85 because MT90 wasn't available at my local shop. I don't feel a difference.

I was afraid you were going to say something like that lol!
What is the climate like where you live temperature wise? Thanks
Edit: I see you live in Texas, I am getting the picture now haha. I guess I'll just have to see how it operates in 45 degree weather here in NC

I will be driving the car at operating temp for the first time this Saturday with an outside temp of around 40 degrees with new MT-85 in it. I'll post my results afterwords.

Just as an update, I never did drive the car last week but plan on driving it tomorrow for the first time with this fluid at operating temp. Should be around 45 degrees in the morning, I'll post back with how it performed on a 169,000 mile AP1 tranny.

Even if you drove it in 20*F weather, the tranny will warm up pretty fast. So just take it easy for the first few miles, I don't know anyone that just starts their car and drops the hammer then speed shifts all the gears.
