Although unlikely, have you checked the wire that leads to your oil pressure switch? Mine was burnt and was causing similar issues when the exposed wire was making contact with the timing chain tensioner. Worth a shot, and could be a $1 fix with some electrical tape. You can refer to my previous thread for pictures if this doesn't make sense

Or he could just dissconect the oil sensor then the engine will never need topping up!

As a former s2000 owner who has graduated to Chevy Camaro SS.....

Red Light on s2000 = Imminent Engine Death...

My engine blew thanks to 2 knumbskull dealers that did not know how to perform an oil change....

Don't become a victim, if you see that light, trade that car in/put a for sale sign on it RIGHT NOW or start looking for a used engine at junk yards. S2000 engines don't play nice when low on oil. I'm not joking, I'm not being a troll, I'm speaking truth.

I spent damn near $10k for a replacement engine. Don't be a victim.

Yeah, that's the way, if there is a problem hide it and sell it on to some sucker. That's the American way. Make it someone else's issue.

Serioursly though, OP. of you don't know how to check your oil, and do so on a regular basis for EVERY car that you drive, you really shouldn't be driving.

Did you get the oil changed and are you checking it with every fill up of fuel?

The only way to reduce oil consumption is to not drive the car.

Don't try to cheat anyone by selling it on due to your lack of responsibility and dedication to owning a sports car. Anyone who suggest actions of such should be castrated.

Yes it's using/losing a lot more oil than normal, but it could be a leak of somesort or the wrong viscosity of oil being used.

Seek some specialist advise (go to a reputable S2000 experienced garage) and stop wasting peoples time with this trivial matter. The fix may not cost hardly anything and will save you much more in the long run.

You got your answers many times but I don't see that you're bothered to do anything.

Give it a short while and you'll be parting out your car.. Unless you just do what you need too.

No need for that. Just be scared to death of buying anything from a pillock.

Just noticed this guy has a red S in his header, but a pic of a blue S in his sig, do you think hes got a mate called Bevis?
Could be that he's color blind and never had a red light in the first place.
Still don't buy a red (or blue) 2001 from anyone from Southern California. I've just read some other posts!

car might be stalling out during hard breaking. Try breaking hard in neutral.
He already said it was out of oil, but didn't seem to want to top it up!
