I hate seeing motors go due to stupidity. Its a pretty simple procedure to check your engine oil level !!!

Hope you don't plan on driving there without checking/adding oil!
You'll be lucky if your engine lasts as it is.

do you check your oil at every fill up as you should be? These engines are known to burn quite a bit sometimes.

So ......... You see the oil light come on (more than just once). You suspect it might be low on oil and you suspect you should check the dipstick but instead of just going ahead and checking the dipstick, you ask on a forum if others think you are low on oil and ask if it should checked. Somehow the word "dipstick" keeps rising to the surface.

if your engine isn't making any strange noises, running poorly or blowing smoke, consider yourself extremely lucky and start checking the oil at eacy fuel fill up. You won't get many more lucky breaks.

If the oil light came on, and you drove like that for a while, I´d open the engine, check internals for wear, and replace the rod bearings anyways. Cheaper than a new engine.
