Default Red oil light comes on during hard braking?

The other day I noticed that the red oil light (genie bottle looking thing) came on for about 1 second and then went away. I didn't really pay attention to it until it happened again and I noticed that it would come on when I brake harder than normal. Could it be that I'm low on oil and it sloshes forward when I brake hard so the computer detects it for a split second?

Sounds like you're low. Easy way to find out... check the stick.

Check your oil before you blow your engine!
Should be checking your oil frequently anyways. These cars burn oil.

my gfs ford escape did the same thing when she was going up hill one day. she called me and asked what it was. i told her to come over and i checked her oil, there WAS NOTHING!!!! on the dipstick. then i took the oil cap off and it was like steamy. i changed her oil for her and only 1.5-2quarts came out out of 5.5...she was probably close to a blown motor.

The computer doesnt detect anything.

You lost oil pressure, because you are way low on oil.

I'm about to put a 6th engine in an s2k, all due to a spun bearings that happened months after an incident just like yours.

Good luck.

I agree with billman, good luck. Once the oil light comes on the motor usually goes.

oil starvation is a main killer of these engines, it doesn't take much oil loss to do it either, keep it filled as close to the full mark as you can, check it frequenly.
