Default Red brake light, uh oh....

So recently ive been experiencing an intermittent problem where ill take a turn, typically left, and the red brake light will illuminate then shut off after between 2 and 30 seconds. Ive checked the fluid level and it is at the max level, and this condition occurs even while taking non-aggressive turns. Ive tried to replicate the symptoms by making aggressive turns and sometimes it doesnt even happen then which leads me to believe its not just fluid sloshing in the resevour past the fluid sensor...

can anyone give me some advise?

**also will a red brake light set a DTC? i work for chrysler and i know if a red brake light comes on itll set a DTC in the body control module. is honda the same way?

Just throwing it out there. Was the fluid level checked with the diaphram extended or collapsed? Maybe that makes a difference?

I was having this problem too. I had to switch to Amsoil Severe Blink 100% syn blinker fluid. I bleed the system about once a year and the problem hasn't come back. Some people prefer to run the Motul JDM fluid but the Amsoil is working fine for me.

check your brake pads as well...if they are worn down it can cause that as well

posts like this belong on honda-tech.com not s2ki.com

thanks for the info though, my pads on all 4 wheels are pretty worn... looks like only a few mm left on every pad. maybe thats where i should start.

I thought that normally worn pads only make the light come on because the fluid level drops?

Check the fluid level with the cap off.
