What is so difficult about using an oil extractor? If anything, it speeds up the process and its less messy. I was just shocked to see my flex tube come out of the dipstick hole with a bunch of cuts and shavings. I never experienced this in any other car that I use it on.

How can you say that is more work? If I had not run into the problem of losing suction, the extractor would have sucked all the oil out in about 10-13 min depending on the amout suction pumps I do. I know for this car I cant use it but all my other cars it makes an oil change a breeze.

Not had this problem and always thought this way was more work than it's worth. Sorry. Switch to regular oil drain/fills
Very little can go wrong when you do something the way it was intended. That's just my opinion and I think this post is proof positive that such time savers don't save any time. My time to reply to this thread should count again this. I think oil extractors are a joke. Right up their with how fair and balanced Fox News is. But that's really another discussion.
Merry Christmas!

On a side note, are you really saying this is the first oil change in 3+ years on your 2008 s2000? I know you were within the mileage range of the oil change, but I would not want to leave the same oil in my engine for 3 years...

Personally another reason for changing oil the "old fashioned" way is seeing what's on (or not on) my magnetic drain plug. I can do it without lifting the car and the most time consuming part is draining as much oil out of the bottles as possible.
