Smile Rebuilt head, Car wont IDLE!

Long story short. rebuilt head, everything is connected. Car idles at 300 rpms. if i give it any throttle it knocks at 3000 and dies. then it wont idle again unless i let it sit for an hour. i think its something wrong with the fuel

BECAUSE i pulled the fuse for the fuel pump to relieve pressure to pull the head. it was out for two weeks as i was waiting for springs and valves n shit. once i put everything together, i turned the crank by hand to make sure the i didnt **** up the timing to hit a valve. then i dry cranked it with the starter for at least 30 seconds and it sounded like it had great compression. so thats when i put fuel fuse back in. turned the ignition on and let the pump run for about a minute and it started fine but idle just but ****s 300rmps. if i dont touch the throttle it just idles on forever at 300. i havent let it idle for the 10minutes to let the ecu relearn for the simple factthat i dont believe the idle control would affect how the ecu runs the car on throttle. i really thing its the fuel filter/regulator/(or)pump. any ideas suggesttsions ?

300rpm idle? I doubt our cars can idle that low, the cams are too agressive, IIRc...

found problem, timing is retarded. it idled that low cause there was no fuel pressure. removed fuel fill cap and replaced it and idle went back to 1k. now it cams like a bitch. but i figured it out.

if you had no fuel pressure the car would crank/no start (bad fuel pump or ckt). loose fuel cap does not alter the a/f ratio enough to affect idle quality. when ecu runs evap test it would throw the p456 (small evap leak) or the specific loose gas cap dtc (can't remember exact dtc).
