my engine builder called je pistons and wiseco and both of them said for break in for rings on the hard frm cylinder walls you should do lots of high to low rpm downshifts to put a lot of cylinder pressure on the rings cause its hard to seat the rings and basically beat the crap out of the motor. idk if its true, but thats 2 good company's to say the same thing and for it to not be true??? i'm doing a turbo build with an oem rebuilt block so thats why i came here to see what you guys said about oils. but this was info about ring seating that i was given and wanted to share for discussion... i havent started the motor yet, so i havent done this break in style, but was kind of surprised when my engine builder told me that.

Lol uoa's are good for the car the report was recieved from. Everybody drives there car differently, under different road conditions and engine loads. Build enough f20c's for a dyno layout and put different oil in each one, run for 50,000 miles then check the uoa and rip them apart. Post pictures and actual data from each engine. Then talk about a uoa. Not 1,000's of uoa's from people that don't put enough oil or overfill. And ride down streets at 8,000 Rpms to look cool

I am using the cp pistons, but when I called them to ask about it they told me the same thing. Vary the speeds at which you shift and stay away from vtec

Once again, follow this article and use break in oil. You do need lots of neg cyl pressure which you get by wit low rpm shifts. Joe Gibbs racing has good break in oil.

Yes, now I see the truth in your argument. What was I thinking?
