And mine. I was told it would get better between 800 and 100 miles, but no change. Did all the break in stuff. Got 1800 on them now. Sound proofing over the gas tank helped a little.

I love the performance, but the 6th gear cruising howl is pretty annoying when the top is up and the windows are closed. With the windows open or top down it's tolerable.

If I'd known they'd be this noisy, I likely would've picked a different manufacturer.

I've considered driving to MD to have Rick's look at the install, to make sure that's not a factor.

#1) there is no other manufacturer of the 4.57...they are a Rick's/Richmond gears fabrication.
#2) There isn't a Rick's to drive to and Rick, himself, doesn't do any of the mechanical work.

There was some talk that the backlash setting was different, but I don't think that has proven true. There are a couple possibilities for the etiology of whine, but it doesn't seem to indicate that the gears are not working correctly or that any damage is being done.

Yeah, I know; I would've considered 4.44's from someone else. And I didn't know Rick's wasn't accessible; I hadn't talked to them about the idea of getting with them yet.

Wow! I wish I had known all this. I got my gears done at Ganley Honda in Ohio, who Rick's recommends. He told me today that the whine was the combo of the gears and the KAAZ LSD. Now I know it is the gears. I did all the breakin proceedure that Rick recommended. Still the noise. I will drive it for awhile and see what happens. Ganley Honda told me of a guy that has my setup and the noise has subsided a lot. I hope that will be my case.

At least I have the whole stock pumpkin I can put back in.

To think I traded in a set of Cryoed 4.44s for these gears.

I think I will build a 4.44 rearend out of my stock unit. That way I will have both to play with. It only stinks that the 4.57's are in the comptech rearend I bought with all new everything.

I still can't wait until I get a few miles on them and let her fly. I did the ACT Clutch, Toda lightened flywheel, C's short shifter and the rearend all at the same time.

Now I have to learn how to drive it all over again.

Thanks for all the replys.

Road Rage! You are all over it. You must have a serious engineering background.

1.) I think they made them strong but didn't know about the whine until they tested them. Then they said screw it.

2.) They think that," so what if they whine, they are made for autocross."

I used the LE 607 because of your excellent testing. Ganley Honda says that I should have gone with a 80 W 90 for the breakin of the KAAZ LSD. Then go with the LE 607.

What do you think. After reading your post, I respect your opnion more than most people about the S.
