Rear wheel bearing failure

Rear wheel bearing failure
Taking my garaged S2k on a road trip. The drivers rear wheel bearing self destructed at 70mph. Went from instant rumble to intense smoke by the time I stopped <15 seconds the wheel was frozen. Is this a common thing? Should I be worried about the other wheels? Nervous in the service!

The problem with the under torqued axle nut is that the wheel bearing can slip relative to the hub. This causes them to wear against each other so the hub's shaft gets smaller. During this, there would be a clicking noise.
It sounds like the OP's problem is there was a failure between the inner/outer race of the bearing. I'm not sure if the bearing/hub motion can cause enough damage to the inner race to cause such a failure.
Regardless, when you get it put back together, you'll need to make sure the axle nut is torqued sufficiently otherwise you'll have another failure.
GL w/ the repair.

i can vouche for the axle nut tightening...i finally got around to tightening mine to 250 lb/ft as i was having clicking backing up or moving from a stop...no more clicking noise after i torqued them...took me 10 mins and a snap on digital torque wrench
