My 2006 original windshield measures 3 1/8" from the molding to the top of the mounting square.

I had my windshield replaced in MY03 a few months back and I noticed quickly I was having issues adjusting it properly. The top of my mirror continued to hit the interior piece near the dome light and I did not have this issue before. The mirror also looked slightly higher but i just told myself its just me. Over time my rear view mirror began to shake and wiggle on bumpy roads. Now it rattles all day even on smooth roads. Then A friend of mine got in the other day and asked why my mirror was soo high so it must be.
Measured mine and it is 3in 3/8 from molding to bottom mirror windshield bracket (not sure what it was before). I cannot tighten the mirror anymore to stop the wiggle so i removed it. It appeared to be installed wrong but I am having a difficult time re-installing it and getting it snug. I cannot get any play out of it. Anyone have any advise to this ongoing/similar issue?

I'm having exactly the same issues with my MY08. I'm on windshield #3 and the issue isn't that the piece is mounted to high on the glass, but that the mounted piece has the wrong wedge angle. the OEM 08 windshield piece stands off the glass about 1/4" on the thickest part of the wedge as opposed to the non-OEM windshield on which the piece has nearly no wedge. So the MY08 mirror cannot tighten enough to remove the play in teh mount. It really jiggles when I'm driving...luckily hasn't fallen off yet. My soulition will be to glue some shim material on the windshield mount piece to replicate the appropriate thickness and remount the OEM mirror. good luck everyone!

Fixed mine today. Took pictures of the spring to show how compressed it got over 100k mi. I bout all the parts from majesic honda ($15 shipped) and figured out how to install after an hour.
Sry for no pics but i'll try to explain. The black clip that sits flush to the mirror is the key part. The prong that sits upwards facing the top goes inside the the top black piece that is used to hold the mirror in the mount. the spring goes in between. When I took mine apart, this is not how it was so I had no idea at first. So installation procedure would be, put top black ring in top of bolt. put spring inside bolt. add clip to the bottom and feed the prong through the top ring. Screw into mirror with 2-3mm space to slip into mirror mount. align mirror with mount and bolt in tight.
Hope that helps all

There's a photo on here that shows how you need to put the pieces together (searching is your friend).

For the lazy:
