Rear Suspension rattling...w/ coilovers
i have a set of tein flex's on the car. i've got the fronts dialed in now, and haved moved to the rears. at first i thought the sound was from too little preload, ie less than zero. basically it sounds like something is loose. it only 'rattles' at slow speeds. i checked the perch and it is snug as well. and i tightened to have just a hair over zero preload. all 3 installation nuts and bolts are tight and torqued correctly.
when i bounce on the bumper, i can make a gentle, faint sound, that i suspect is the rattling i hear in the car. the sound sounds like an empty trunk with something like the jack rolling around back there. i'm thinking that the coilovers may be topping out, but don't know why they only make the noise under slow speeds. also when i move from full soft to full firm, i can feel the difference, so i know they aren't blown.
any ideas?

Make sure you preload the spring on the coilover. If your coilovers have a threaded body you could adjust the preload without messing with the height. Preload at least 1" and tighten all the top nuts with the wheel on the car and on the floor so there is some type of load on the suspension.

My D2's didn't require any, the instructions said to NOT PRELOAD or change springs adjustment but they kept on maxing out on decompression, when the wheel separated from the chassis. Try those things and good luck with all.

I'm still trying to figure out my noise. I took both rear wheels off and added a little bit of preload. with the wheels off and no load on the suspension, the springs do not have any play whatsoever, they have a little bit of tension. I've tried to listen a little more carefully, and I think I can hear it at higher speeds as well....not totally sure though. Has anyone had the trunk spring make noise? I've noticed that the rubber surround doesn't completely cover all of it. The spare tire is tight. End links weren't touched during the install.
is the exhaust close enough to something to rattle against when lowered?
