Default Rear main seal leak

If the rear main seal is leaking, will it do so with engine just sitting, or only while running? Is the oil level high enough in pan for it to leak? I'm trying to diagnose an oil leak at rear of motor.

Dunno about leaking when sitting, considering its WAY above where the oil should be (below the crank). But running ofcourse. Oil level should not be hitting the crank while running otherwise it would cause drag. Someone chime in to correct me but it makes complete sense. If you see oil between the bottom of the trans and engine that is usually just excess from pouring or if you taken the valve cover off recently or a higher oil leak. Clean the engine off and run it for alittle bit. Should help you

Is the oil coming from between the bell housing and block, or is that just the spot it's pooling in, running down from somewhere else? You need to degrease/chemical wash and trace it down.

Yeah man just saying "I have an oil leak in this general area" doesnt really help us help you. Need to clean it and grab some shots of it. I personally have never heard of a rear main failing on an S2K but that doesnt mean it doesnt happen. If its pooling at the bottom of the bell housing that is pretty much the lowest part oil will drip to. So it could be coming from anywhere. How much oil are you losing? Check valve cover gasket? Put oil in recently? Crank seal good? VTEC solenoid not leaking? Timing cover not leaking? Oil pan leaking? Oil filter tight and not double o ringed? List goes on and on..
