Default Rear Lights stay on!

Hi everyone.

I just did my ap1 -> ap2 Tail light conversion everything went sweet until I finished it then I noticed a problem. My brake lights stay on but they are very very dim can only see it at night. Once I turn on the car lights it goes brighter, I brake it goes even brighter but when I turn off the car it stays on constantly.. but remains very dim.

I unplugged both the brake lights and noticed that my 3rd brake light goes on.. Very dim also. Once I plug the plugs back into the brakes the 3rd brake light goes off and the 2 brake lights go on.

I've done a search but cannot find anything, I did the fluid check and the pedal check however it's not that. reset the ecu nothing happens, pulled out the fuse put it back in same thing.

Any help please it looks so good but this is a problem my car battery will die if I leave it like that

sounds like a wiring problem - not too sure why you reset the ecu - check the fuses with a meter first then maybe recheck your wiring - the ap2 is leds whereas the ap1 were not so maybe you missed a step - something could be back feeding the leds?? (just a guess)

I just reset the ecu just to give it a shot i thought it might work.

One bit I thought was weird was in the DIY, you needed to take out the bulb for the indicator and switch the metal bits around, but I just used the ones that were in the ap2 tail light, and gridded down the tab and it fits fine.

just of curiosity did you touch anything under the dash near the brake pedal? usually the brake switch can go bad or in some cars the liittle plastic grommet that goes in the brake pedal arm falls out and leaves the brake switch button out leaving your lights on. this happens alot on nissan/infiniti cars.

Nah i didn't touch the pedal however I did try to do that because some people recommended it in the searches i found.

I'll play around with the ground wire tomorrow night hopefully will fix it. It's very very dim so unless its dark u cant see it.

Took it out swapped sides works a charm as well. But when I plug in both the LED tail lights they stay on what the
