When the dealer put the glass top in they didn't do a proper conversion. The straps on the ribs are configured differently on the glass tops.
Damn, check out the big-brain on neg.

yeah little nipple looking things that you are supposed to use when you have the tonneau cover on. When I did the conversion from the MY00 top to the glass window top I had to remove the snaps on the back of the roll bars. Even in the DIY it tells you specifically to remove them to prevent top damage.
this is correct. if u do not remove the two inner 'nipples', the glass would keep grinding on it n eventually cause it to break. those two need to be removed if u have the glass conversion...

They did NOT remove the two nipples. It seems to me, now that it's happened again, that catching on them was a possibility. Where would I find reference to removing them?

Does anyone have a car with a factory glass window, and are the nipples present and positioned the same?

I have the glass rear window. There are two plugs, one on each side of the secret compartment door, that can be seen when looking through the rear window.

I'm guessing these plugs cover the nipple holes (pasties)...

Nipple cover. Right side, looking from the back of the car...

Thanks for all the help here on the board. Looks like the nipples were the cuprit. We can see the wear points on the underside near the top of the window where the top was coming down on the nipples (easy to see now that the glass is not there).

On the passenger side it had actually made a hole. Having made the hole, the nipple probably got stuck in it, and the glass shattered when the top was trying to go up but the nipple was preventing that point from going up with it.

That's what we are here for. I can't tell you how much money I have saved because of this site! Did you remove them or are you going to have the shop do it?
