Interesting thread to me, despite age. Posting bere in case it helps anyone else with same issue.

My S ('06 AP2) was rear ended, and it drove fine afterwards (drove it home, drove it to body shop), but once it came back from body shop I noticed right away it was doing this.

Even just letting off the gas or clutching to shift, I notice this same 'wiggle'. Feels like rear end is steering a little, stepping out. We're talking driving like grandma here, so definitly not tire slipping or anything. Can even feel it when driving in a straight line. Can also feel it changing lanes over imperfect pavement, even just a slight ridge between paving coats.

As part of the repairs, they did an alignment. The rear toe was way too far in. The new settings its now right in the middle of spec for rear toe. Since that is the only thing that changed (it drove fine even after accident, they didn't change any suspension stuff, tires are same, same air pressures), I can only presume its the alignment that is the cause.

Since alignment is now 'correct', I can only assume its now handling the way its supposed to, and my one year of S ownership up to this point, on the 'bad' alignment, was the anomoly (even though it felt better before).
