Default rear end slipping..

ok i've got 40k on the clock, and yesterday i did a diff oil change. Now running royal purple, i can only assume that it had never been changed before. now when i shift fast the rear end almost makes a clunking sound. but here is what really worries me
its happened twice where my car has been in a weird position, on a driveway were one rear wheel was slipping. and the other wasn't moving at all. it happened last night, i started to do a nice little 1 wheel burn out in reverse trying to get out of my neighbors diverway.
so what is going on with my diff. it felt like i was driving with an open one. i figured with the new oil it should be working better? thanks guys
will

depending on how abusive you are the to car, you may have answered your own question.

also, royal purple is not worth the money. what weight diff oil did you put in your car? 75w90?

Royal Purple has worked extremely well in mine for quite a few thousand miles with nary a complaint or strange noise.

Clunk is bad. But if the car is in a "weird position" as you say and one rear wheel is off the ground or nearly off the ground, the inside will spin as you described. It is the nature of the Torsen LSD- when one wheel is completely unloaded it goes open.

Maybe you are just noticiing it now because you are concerned about it and paying more attention?

I didn't say it was a crappy oil. it simply isn't worth the money. better performing oils can be had for the same price.

"Clunking", is I envision this the same as you, is never a good thing.
Which Royal Purple specifically did you put in there? It shouldn't have friction modifiers in it and it should be GL-5 rated.

Not sure if the LSD will lock in reverse, so don't panic until you do it in 1st on a slippery surface.

you got the synco stuff??? what is that? is it GL5? is it friction modified?

you need to let us know as we are trying to prevent you from doing $3000 damage worth to your car because you put the wrong fluid in!
