Default rear end noise

Hey guys, I just bought an my00s2000 about two months ago. I love the car, have been a honda guy for about 9 years.

I'm hoping that I have the inner cv joint problem, but mine sounds a little bit different. When hard acclerating the car will pull to the right, I can feel it coming from the rear end. It has the shakes also, this leads me to the cv joint problem. The differences are that I don't have any clicks like people talk about and also I have a small whining noise coming from the rear end. The car has 98,000 on it. Any help would be great. Thanks guys.

First check the air pressure in the tires. The s2k is very sensitive to unbalanced air pressure from right to left and that can cause the pulling. Even if you *think* the pressure is fine, check it anyway.

Beyond that...the whine may be coming from a wheel bearing...it may be coming from a cracked ring gear...it may be that you have a non-oem ring & pinion.

Can you post a vid so we can hear the whine?

I've heard that these cars were very sensitive. When i first got it home I checked the tire pressure and it was fine, but I'll check it again. I would do a video of the whine noise, but I don't think it's loud enought to hear on video. I also did the check for the cv joint and there was more play in the left side than the right side.
I'm thinking that I might swap the joints around and maybe also put bearings in it now. If anything to get the weak honda cv joint grease out and put some of the recomended redline grease in there.

Just note that the axle lengths are not the same right to left. The passenger axle is longer than the driver side.

I checked the tire pressure again and the passenger side only had 10psi in it. So i have a slow leak that I'll have to keep an eye on. That took care of a lot of the vibration, but there is still a little bit.

If the axle lenghts are different, do people have any long term problems with swapping them around.

The only part that is typically swapped from one side to the other are the CV buckets.
