I wanted the LE1605 but couldn't justify the cost. $40 per quart! That's insane! If you buy direct, the minimum qty is equally absurd, something like 5 gallons, but it's only like $10 per quart. Unless I get hard data that the LE is 4x as good as Amsoil, I'm not gonna pay ricks or anyone else that much for the fluid. Thats just my take.
$40 is too high. Call a couple of 4-wheel drive truck places as some of them carry it. Here (north of LA) there's a shop called "4 Wheel Specialties Unlimited" that carries it. In fact I just called them today. They were out but will order more on Monday. However, I've also been considering Redline 90-110 which seems to be new. Does anyone have experience with this one?
I think you are referring to Redline 75w-110 , that is a pretty good spec much like Amsoil 75w-110, I would expect it to work well.

Sorry, you're right. 75W110, Not 90-110.

Honda specifies a differential oil change every 30,000 miles; 15,000 for severe duty. What's that, 0.2¢ - 0.3¢ a mile at most?

I have no idea how frequently or if the former owner of my '06 changed the differential oil so I put LE-1605 in there last summer after I bought the car with 38,500 miles on it. I'll do it again probably this summer. Cheap enough and these cars ain't getting any newer!

It is cheap maintenance, with our small diff sumps (less than 1 quart) I like to do it more often than recommended. Diffs are expensive and a pain to replace. I was dumping my fluid once a year regardless of miles ( I probably drive 3,000 miles a season). Since going to LE1605 and seeing how low my wear has dropped (through used fluid analysis) I will be using 2 year intervals now (6,000 miles max).

JFUSION, did you track your car or do some pretty hard driving ( maybe a redundant question, I know) in those intervals?

no, not really. It is pretty much all street driving. I've done some parade laps at Watkins Glen and Mosport in the past , but I wouldn't call that track use.

Yes, same thing. If you contact Lubrication Engineers' through their website they'll connect you with a local rep as well. You might be able to save on shipping.
