Default Rear Diff. Noise

I have a noise coming from the rear differential. It's from 45 to 60 MPH. It's hard to explain on paper, but it sounds like.... wawawawa. I have an '03 with 3,500 miles. The dealer told me it was normal. Anybody else experience this? Thanks in advance.

It doesn't sound good. I suspect the bearing are about to go. My car started making the same noise three days before the diff. blew up. I played my part by excessively dumping the clutch and grenaded it at the track after a massive burnout and catastropic explosion at the line. It is not a secret anymore that the bearing cars are the weakest point in the differential. I wouldn't launch anymore until the diff. has been reinforced and/or check the bearings if you have an aggressive driving style.

wow that sounds bad. It's funny though because I have NEVER launched the car before. I don't even beat on it. Why would they tell that the sound is normal?

does the noise occur constantly? is it very loud? can you hear it when the top is up, down or both?

Like I said it's always from about 45 to 60 MPH, but only when i touch the gas. If I let the gas go, the noise stops. It's moderately loud. I can hear it with the top up or down. It's really anoying. They told that all S2000s do it. I just don't believe it. anyone experience this?

then if thats the case, it definately is NOT normal. the dealership is just trying to avoid warranty work, go to another dealership until you get it fixed.

i have read posts where some people have experienced some noise from the rearend at ~60 mph and it always turned out to be the differential.
