Rear defroster troubleshooting with pics! Help!
Well, I just got back from dealer and I told them rear defroster is not working for my hardtop. They wanted $100+ to fix. I said no thank you but they wrote some comments on my receipt.
"Performed ETM troubleshooting. Checked fuses for rear defroster, OK. Checked the defroster relay, OK. Checked the ground, OK. Traced to Connector 901 found the pins were in the incorrect locations causing the rear defroster not to work."
I have circled connector 901. Where does it apply on the hardtop harness? Any ideas?

I received the WHOLE Helms manual in PDF through some thread here on the site. It's 28MB. If your email can handle that, let me know, I'll send it to you.

what you circled is a groung coming from the fuse box where the defroster relay is located.
see the little 3 lines at the end of the wire? thats a symbol for ground. when you press the defroster switch do you hear a clicking noise from under the dash? if so i dont think that is your problem. if you dont then the switch isnt throwing 12 to trigger the relay or the 901 ground isnt connected.

for both the relay AND the defroster grid it wont matter if the wires are backwards. its only a resistor of sorts. as long as power goes in 1 way and ground is on the other end of the circuit it would work.
