I've done this many times with past Honda's, including my 2000 Si, but I've noticed that the OBD-II connection port is different on my 2000 S2k. Is there a way to check my Check Engine Light without using a scanner? If so please link me the instructions.

I've checked the FAQ's and attempted searching...sorry but the search feature on this website is absolutely horrible

Try this link. The same trick works to read out the abs dtc too.

That's the way I did it before, same directions only what that link calls pin 1, I think is actually pin 9. The the pins marked as ground would be pins 4 and 5. The pin marked pin 8 is actually pin 16.

Here's another link that I believe has the port labelled correctly. My OBDII cable has it's pins marked and they match this diagram. Also I used this procedure to pull a SRS DTC from an 02 Civic.

Basically locate, the OBDII connector and jump pin 9 to pin 4, not pin 1 to anything.
