Thanks but I'm not 'scared' but the axle nuts were such a pain in the ass. If the nuts weren't so difficult I wouldn't have an issue but since they were so tough I thought of this work-around, thus the reason for my question.

32mm and a half inch gun. take the 6 bolts that connect the diff to the axle out and pull the ****er out. good to go. take the boot off slide it down. theres a snap ring in there probably take that off. clean the grease out put the new grease it. or ill give u my axles if u want.

Oh, I see what you mean now, bypassing the 36mm axle nut and going to the bolts on the CV joint, not a bad idea. Thanks.

no still pop off the axle nuts but dont un bolt either a arm. ur gonna wanna do the job on a bench. if u got a half inch gun it should be cake. or use a braker bar if u dont. and dont drill out anything and put grease fittings in. the metal shavings will wear everything out. seal ball joints are an upgrade from ball joints w a grease fitting.

If you really want to replace all the CV grease... you want to have that axle on a bench.
Period.

As per Billman: with a horizontal CV joint its very likely to drop a spider bearing.
Its best to put the axle back together vertically.

The 36mm axle nut should not be a problem.
IF it was lubed as it should have been the last time you removed it.
