Re packing new wheel bearings
#11
I used a combo of gas/compressed air to remove every bit of grease. The gas was a bad idea as it kinda swelled the rubber seal causing a little deformation, but after letting it sit for a couple hours it went right back. I would use a non chlorinated solvent next time around, but not sure that it is the answer either.

Most S2000 owners get a long life out of the oem bearings that they wouldn't think about adding more grease in new bearings. They would be happy with the life of the old bearings that they wouldn't think that they could be made better. The bearings in my Ford vehicles are a different story, getting maybe 1/3rd the life of my Honda bearings.

Well I may have got my answer much quicker than expected! I seem to have developed a distinct bearing noise from the driver rear almost immediately. I have to check a few other things to confirm, but it sounds a lot like the left rear going out.
Might have been good that I didn't mess with the fronts.

Actually to update the thread, I have removed the rear hubs and am 99% certain the bearings are fine, they feel silky smooth. So I decided to not replace them just yet. I painted the hubs and am thinking a bit of paint might have got in where the axle seats.
