? re maitenance light
Hello Everyone,
I was driving home last night on the freeway. Goin' about 70mph in 6th gear, suddenly i felt like the engine was loosing power and i notice the maintenace light flasing for about 20 sec. then everything went back to normal. And now when I start the car I see the light flashing. My question is that does the light always flash when starting the car and how many times is it suppose to flash?
Thanks in Advance......

and the first question back usually is...
"What mods are done to the car ? "
This helps qualify your dilemna...
(but the short answer is that light is a dummy light rigged to go on every 7500 miles... and it flashes a few times upon start-up, but will flash more the closer you get to that next 7500 interval period, and then the light just stays until until it is reset...)

Are you confusing the maintenance light with the check engine light? The maintenance light only serves as a reminder to have service performed. As ricklobo stated, it starts flashing for several seconds after the ignition is turned on about 6k miles after being reset, and comes on solid about 7.5k miles after being reset. It does not indicate any abnormal engine operation, but is simply a reminder that comes on at specific mileage intervals.
The check engine light indicates that the ECU has detected an engine operation fault. The codes can be downloaded with a scan tool.

it starts to flash at 6k, and continues to flash until 7500, where it just stays on....bugged me too, until i read the manual (it also tells you how to reset it if you wish)
