Rattling and its not the Transmission
I have done many a search on this and i have a good idea about the transmission noise on decelerating and i know what this sounds like but tonight i was out and while decelerating the noise was really loud. i cant reproduce it on command but it sounds like its is coming from up under the drivers footwell and is definatly metallic however it does go away when clutch is engaged or throttle is tapped. just thought that it was realated to the tsb due to those "quick fixes " but i was wondering if anybody has any ideas. it only seems to happen at 4k and below and doesnt happen all the time my car only has 19k miles on it and i bought it used (with 16k miles) so no extended warranty. thanx alot

I had a strange clinging noise at a certain RPM. It turned out to be a nut loose on my header heat shield. I'm sure its something similar just resonating at a certain frequency or something.

Heat shield. That's my guess. There are lots of them and they are held on by lots of nuts and bolts. Because they are heat shields, the heat can warp them and cause them to touch something at certain rpms.
