Rattle from cold
Hey there
I currently have an AP1 and when I start the car the is a horrible knocking noise from the engine, and the revs go up and down for a few seconds until it heats up and stops. Similiarly if I give the car a gentle rev was she starts it goes away, I have attached a clip below:

Can you please offer any suggestions of what you think this could be?

Wow..
I dont think you have internal engine problems.
First off, your IAC valve is sticking. This is why the idle is hunting up and down. It is amplifying the other noise and making it hard to pinpoint.
So start there. Learn how to take it apart and clean it. Search my posts with the word PENTACLE in it

The flutuating idle is common, yes.
Dont use any DIY. You have to find mine, I think its the only one that expalins how to take the valve apart (take the motor part off so you can spin the shaft)
As far as that noise, check your SERP BELT TENSIONER. Put a 14mm wrench on it and push it down. Make sure it moves up and down free with no knocking or binding.
Trust me man..do a ONE word search for PENTACLE in the UTH forum.
