Default Rattle in Catalytic Converter

I have part of a 02 sensor rattling in my catalytic converter and it's getting kinda annoying. I passed smog fine before the 02 sensor broke, so I would rather not have to purchase a new cat if possible only because I'd rather throw that amount of cash into something else. Before I make any purchases, I was curious if anybody here may be able to answer my question. Wondering if I take off the cat, you think I might be able to shake it out of the unit? Or will the honeycomb structure inside be blocking it and prevent me from getting it out. Just curious, before I actually go try and do it. If it would work, then that would be great, and all I assume i would have to purchase is the 2 bolts with springs, 2 donut type gaskets, and the 3 self locking nuts. looks like the manual says they should be replaced, and I'm assuming if that for a new, or even just removing and putting back on. thanks for any info!
