Default Rattle at A/C Heater Climate Control Panel

Hey all, searched around quite a bit and didn't see anything. 2005 w/ 148k miles. Ever since I replaced my motor mounts (which were both essentially separated), the increased vibrations after reintroducing the engine to the chassis have led to a serious hunt for rattles. The latest oone seems to be coming from the panel that has the climate controls on it. I can consistently get it to rattle while driving around 3.5k rpms, and when i press in on the panel between the knobs the rattle greatly diminishes, sometimes goes away completely, until I stop pushing on it. The panel seems secure and doesn't move around, so i'm not sure if it's the panel itself or something behind it.

Ahead of pulling the whole cluster off, I thought I do a quick check to see if anyone else has experienced this and fixed it. Thanks all.

2 years later and still haven't solved it. I'm still trying to avoid pulling the dash so I figured I'd Bump

Did you tighten the motor mount bolts like it specifies in the manual? You gotta tighten the bolts in order.
also are they oem mounts or aftermarket? If aftermarket mounts they tend to vibrate more.

Have you checked for a broken vent louvre? Found one in a similar case where a vertical fin broke and was just flapping in the vent.

The factory mounts were both snapped so I replaced them with Megan Racing 75duro mounts. I didn't want a higher durometer because I wanted to try and minimize chassis vibration, but looking back I'm assuming that's stiffer than stock so it's probably contributing.

I dont have any broken louvers. I can hold at specific RPM and hit resonant frequency that makes it rattle, then press down not on the buttons but on the panel face and make it stop. It's not loose in there so I don't know if it's something behind the panel that's causing it. Maybe the circuit board is loose?

Sounds like I'm pulling the panel soon...

Maybe circuit board but I would be more suspect of a cable that touches the back side of the panel.

Is it possible to reach it, for example through the radio den, without pulling the whole dash?

Don't know as I've never tried. Radio comes out easily enough, though. Make sure you have the code if it is an OEM radio.

Well, turns out it was me over-complicating things. The Recirc Air button is just barely loose enough to rattle at just the right RPM. It doesn't feel loose, and pressing on the panel is just enough to dampen it out. I'm going to try and fit a bit of electrical tape on edge to stop it without actually binding up the button. Oh well, at least it's minor. /thread
