Default Race pads squealing while driving

I just installed new RACE pads all around... I have the Hawk 9012's (rear only) and they constantly make a noise that sound like a train... Is this normal for race pads/9012s?

The cobalt spec-VRs in the front seem fine... no noise even whe braking...

Thanks!

Racing pads/rotors are very prone to squeeking.

I knew they should squeal when stopping... I wasn't prepared for the constant sound of my rotors grinding away during normal driving (not stopping)...

I read that some people were able to get rid of the noise by using some anti-squeal stuff (mikes or something like that)... I'll buy some and give it a shot... but I don't see how applying stuff to the back of the pad can prevent the pads from dragging on the rotors.....

Get used to it, or only swap to track pads when you are going to the track.

You want racing compound pads, you'll be dealing with the noise. No anti-squeak is going to shut them up.

Get used to it. They aren't made to be quiet and unless you don't mind squealing like a city bus you should swap them for street pads for street use.

Hey Guys,

I guess I came across as complaining... I wasn't complaining... I thought I might have done something wrong...

The car is prepped for the track now... I wasn't planing on driving around except to go to the track...The only reason I was driving now was to test and bed them in...

I didn't want to spend time at the track swapping pads... But if the squealing is gonna be that bad, I don't think I want to ride on them for 2 hours it takes to get there...

Guess I need to swap the stock pads back in and then swap 'em at the track...

my 3000gt has porterfield R4 pads with powerslot rotors. stopping power is incredible, fade is non-existant, dust is a bitch.

very minor squeak coming to a stop at light pedal pressures. inital bite in the morning is also suprising. you wouldnt know they were race pads unless you were told.

i dont know how the R4 compares to your compound. i was just stating mine are ok for daily driving.

If you're race pads/rotors are cold and don't squeal, you should be worried.

Otherwise, squealing is normal until it warms up (ie. track)
