Diff - Amsoil Severe Gear 75W90 - I've tried the LE 607 and noticed that only my mileage and performance dropped.
How so? How did you determine this was due to the fluid?

he didn't 100% certainty. The problem is a miscalibrated butt dyno. Diff fluid will not make an significant difference on MPG. Driving style may, but diff fluid won't.

It's common for people to make this mistake. They change X MPG or something changes so they assume the X is the root cause. This is rarely the case. In most situations is just driving style variances that make the impact.

The steering fluid might be a good bet too. I say this because of the age of your s2k.

I hope this helps and good luck with your new S!
Some things need to be ignored.

Gears had been in the car for around 8,000 miles.

Funny how they all keep running regardless of fluid. I run NEO 0W5 in the motor, NEO MTF in the tranny, and NEO Racing 75-90 in the rear end. Starts and runs instantly at -20F. And, yes, there is a measurable difference in friction drag.
