Default quick oil filter question

I have the relocation setup and I want to move the filter to the cross beam The adapter i have has the fittings on the top and the filter unscrews from the bottom. I was thinking about putting the fitings on the bottom and basically turning the oil filter around so that I unscrew it from the top. If i were to do this, do you think that when I drain the oil, it would drain everything from the filter so that when I unscrew it, oil wont go everywhere? Or do you think it will still hold oil and when i unscrew it, it will go all over the place?

Oil will still go all over the place. There is a drain valve in the oil filter that keeps it full of oil until you unscrew it.

Yes, you should mount it with the base plate facing up. The anti-drainback valve on the filter will prevent it from draining out. I have a remote filter setup (along with a bypass filter) and it's mounted this way. No mess when I change the oil.
