Questions regarding clutch change on '04 S2000
Hey guys,
First and foremost good morning! The clutch on my '04 S2000 is severely slipping so I'm about to change the clutch. I had a question regarding what parts I'll need: I've always been under the impression that all one needs for a clutch job is the clutch itself, pressure plate, pilot bearing, throw-out bearing and the clutch alignment tool; however, one of my mechanically shrewd friends suggested that I may want to also replace some of the clutch release parts (I've found a listing of the pivotal clutch release components here). I've never heard of anyone replacing these parts during a typical clutch job so I wanted to see if you guys could please shed some light on this issue?
Thanks in advance y'all!

part #1 is the collar that the throwout bearing rides on. If the TO bearing has gone a long time without grease, this part may be worn. You can feel it with your fingers. If its worn it should definitely be replaced. I just did my clutch and at 110k miles mine was worn. As a matter of fact, my car was the only car Ive found a worn collar on out of dozens of cars.
part #4 is the fork. If the tips are worn, there will be steps on them. If so, replace it.

+1 for Billman250 recommendations.
However before you get to that point, I'm not sure if you are very familiar with the AP2 & based on the recent joining what you are experiencing might be the CDV (clutch delay valve) acting on clutch engagement (shock load prevention). This happens during fast shifting at high revs. If it is the case do a search on CDV mod.
However if you are cruising in 4th gear at low RPM and floor it and it is slipping then yes, time for a new clutch.
Cheers

I replace the pilot bearing in the flywheel, and the throw out(#3) every time. I figure it's good security while I have everything off. Check the slave boot for dry rot (#7). I replaced mine just now at 130k. It was ok, but starting to get brittle. The flange likes to tear off of them when you pull it.
The pilot bearing is #7 here: Link
