Default questions about s2000 w/o any airbags

i am thinking about purchasing a car without any airbags. i cant afford anything to expensive so thats why im looking at this car. i got a couple questions. 1, how much would it be to get airbags in by honda. 2, would i still be able to run in lapping days, solo 1, or performance racing school?

I would assume its a wrecked vehicle.

Short answer: Airbags (from Honda) will be expensive. So long as the vehicle's structure is still intact, you should be fine on the track. Airbags are not a necessity.

Airbags and retractors are $2200 or so new.

The answer to the lapping day question is, it depends on your instructor. I wouldn't instruct you with nothing but, stock seats and a stock belt. I'd want airbags. If you had decent seats with a 5 pt harness on both sides, I'd feel comfortable running without bags.

Several times I had instructors about refuse to ride with me when I put a cage in my civic but, hadn't gotten the harness yet. It's completely up to the instructor. I have the seats and harness now (and no airbags).

If you don't need to ride around with an instructor then you're pretty much taking your own life in your hands. The tracks I run don't even check for that stuff.
