Trust me, he'd have an issue. Cracked retainers and/or valve-to-piston contact is an easy one for the dealer to diagnose as the result of abuse.
Why don't you find the dealer he went to and go tell on him.

I can recall shifting from 5-4-3-2. It can be done...

Lets just fabricate and say worst case, you did a full blown over-rev and hit 9k.

Your car is totally fine, ESPECIALLY an AP2.

I don't think anywhere in the context of my post was I trying to say that warranties exist to fix problems caused by driver abuse.
Here's what you said:
Fortunately its well under warranty too so if you start hearing strange noises you wont have to worry about paying for the repair.
A mis-shift is driver abuse. It may not be intentional and it may just be a one time thing, but it is still abuse. The statement that I quoted sounds like you're implying that the warranty would pay for the repair if he has problems after his mis-shift. So, adding these two together, it sounds exactly like you're advocating that he use his warranty to fix problems caused by driver abuse.

Not that it matters. There will always be people out there that try to get stuff covered by warranty when it shouldn't be. I'm not going to get my panties in a wad over it.

you said you were "exiting the freeway," so does that mean you were under 60mph anyway? if so, 2nd gear runs up to just about 60mph, so you wouldn't have caused an overrev.

also, i really don't understand how people can think 2nd gear is 4th. i'm not trying to be a jerk here, and i sincerely hope you didn't damage your car at all, but the position of 2nd gear is so much different from 4th to me. not only in this car, but my previous 3 manual cars as well. i never understood the 3rd to 4th misshift into 2nd, because you really do have to put pressure on the shifter to the left in order to get it in there.

i haven't ever missed a shift like that, ever. i don't powershift, but i don't shift like a grandma either. of course, that doesn't mean i'm a better driver than anyone else, but it's hard for me to grasp the concept of missing a shift like that. there's no reason for it to go left or right if you're just pulling straight back, either from 3rd-4th or 5th-4th shifting. the shifter automatically resets itself to the center gates.

don't get mad at me...just want to pick your brain.
i was slowed down to about 60.

and the reason i misshifted was because i was in panic that my gf's car would hit me from behind since she had to get into a pretty tight spot behind my car to follow me to the exit. its my fault for misshifting.

thanks to everyone that responded, i feel much better about my car now and i dont think this'll happn again

However, if a driver made a one time mistake on a downshift as in his case and the car crapped out they would cover it.
