Question before I lift up the front brake caliper

Hmmm wait a second guys, obviously the car is parked,i doubt he stopped using the e-brake when he parked it. the pads compressed guaranteed...just pop the reservoir cap believe me..youll be fine

Your not causing any damage to anything your only pushing the piston in maybe half an inch..who ever said to pop the bleeder woq..i mean you CAN just dont know why ??

thats my point the e brake ONLY locks the rears...and he def didnt park it using the ebrake, he parked it by using the brakes to stop it...which means the front pads are compressed

if all you're doing is lifting up the caliper, you'll be able to put it back together without having to compress the piston. Don't step on the brake pedal and nothing will move.
While you're looking, check the metal heat shield behind the rotor; mine was rubbing on the bottom of the rotor and causing screeching noises.
now whenever you DO change the brakes, I recommend opening the bleeder valve (put a hose on it) when compressing the piston. It will make it easier to compress the piston and like you said earlier, keep you from pushing crud back up the system. Then top off the fluid and bleed the brakes and you're done. Not really worth it for doing one brake, but if you're gonna do all four, might as well.

LOL dantediss, have you ever changed the brakes? When you step your foot off the brakes the piston retracts.... Think about it. if you can rotate the caliper off the pads, there is nothing stopping you from rotating the caliper back onto the pads.
I track my car and switch between street and race pads all the time. There is no need to compress the piston if you're just taking a look.
