question about sensors
hey guys im quite new here. i bought an s2000 thats been good so far. (i did crash it 
but, its fixed 
)
anyway, heres my question... when i come to a stop the iddle is never stable.
it moves up n down from 800-1000rpm. (not sure if this is normal). and once in a big while the rpm drops low to about 600rpm but, picks back up.
now ive done lots of sesearch and changed the way i drive! (read the long post)
keep in mind: THE CAR RUNS LIKE A CHAMP. DOES NOT BOG, AND IS SMOOTH ON THE FREEWAY ALSO! (the iddle jumping up n down gets to me tho)
heres waht ive done to try n fix the prob:
-map whack (with zip tie)
-new spark plugs
-cleaned the throtle body
-valve adjustment
(all done by a friend at no charge)
i was reading up on the sensors...and heres what i came to understand. when the car is at a stop, the FIRST O2 sensor controls the gas, and once the car is running the MAP sensor takes over. (guess the only thing the 2nd o2 sensor does is tell you the 1st o2 sensor is bad)
so my guess is, since the car runs fine, and only has problems at iddle. it is my 02 sensor at fault! WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK??? (before i start spending money replacing the O2, or map sensor)
WHAT IS GIVING ME THAT UNSTABLE IDDLE???
also, i had a CEL, 172 code "SYSTEMS TOO RICH" i cleared it and i hasnt come back??

Check the DIY FAQ for a thread on how to clean your Idle Air Control Valve (IAC Valve). If cleaning it doesn't solve the problem, it may need to be replaced.
i followerd the instructions, and BAMM!!!
its been two days, the iddle still moves around a bit, but no more "almost stalling" when i press in the clutch at a stop light.
n i didnt even do the best of cleaning, gotta go back in there and do it more carefullu and patiently. i did it at around 11pm no light really, and only unscrewed and plip the ICV a little. sprayed some carb cleaner and cleaned it with some rag thingy. Its been two days and i havent felt that "almost stalling" problem.
gotta pull it out and do a better job tho.
