CoralDoc...the side bottom is connected to the frame, but there is clearly a bolster support inside the seat bottom itself that's not part of the frame. The outside bolster is only flexible for a couple of inches down, whereas the inside bolster is flexible al the way down to the seat itself. It doesn't need a support since it's normally up against the xcenter console.

Ah apparently mine had been rebuilt in some way at some point because your description differs from what was in my car. Obviously we all have the metal bar support as part of the seat frame, but I was unaware of additional side bolster internal support.
Apologies for steering in the wrong direction with my "i believe" comment See how much credibility I have now, but I'm pretty damn sure you can swap the covers side to side if you choose to do that

make sure you buy the right density and quality of foam, they are all different and most foam are not meant to be seat on all the time in the heat without coming apart.
another trick was to patch a jean over the repair area, which will help the foam to live a little longer.
