Question about rolling FRONT fenders to fit 17X9 +45 with 255/40R17
Hello...I haven't been on this site in quite a while, but I figured this would be the best place to go to answer my question.
I am currently running 17X7.5 +45 wheels up front. I plan on buying some 17X9 +45. Obviously, fender pulling will need to take place. I plan on running a 255/40R17 tire. I don't mind adding neg. camber as needed.
Questions for people who have this setup:
-Were you able to flare the fenders enough to clear the wheels and NOT have to do paint and body work?
-Around how much camber do you have to run (pics of my car at current ride height included). A friend of mine told me about -3...which is totally fine. The reason I ask is because I need an alignment tomorrow before my track day and I won't have the 17X9s until a week or so atleast. I would like to not re-align it after the new wheels go on.
Thanks in advance. I did try to search, but I came up with inconclusive answers. Some people seem to say that you don't have to re-paint. Some say you do. Would like to know from people who have done this and would appreciate pictures.

our ride heights look very similar and currently i'm running 17x9 +35 w/ 245 tire and -2.5 degrees in the front. As compared to my setup, a 17x9 +45 will be pushed in 10mm but with an extra 5mm on the outside due to the 255 tire you want to run. So in essence you will have 5mm extra clearance than my setup.
I had spunky roll and pull my fenders and i fit my setup easily. Your setup, with an extra 5mm of clearance should clear just fine. You won't need to get a re-paint. I'd say you could run -2 degrees in the front or -2.5 to be extra safe.

Most people run 17x9 +45 RPF1's with a 255/40 in your sizing case. So feel free to search around on RPF1's and I'm sure you can find LOADS of information. But in short. You should be able to run that setup quite easily, it will very hard if not impossible to run this setup if you're looking to 'tuck' tires up front. But your car does not appear to be that way. Your friend was right with the neighborhood of -3. But you can squeeze out less with some fine tuning.

For reference I'm running +48, 255/40 up front, -2 camber, about the same ride height as you. My fenders are rolled and the slightest bit pulled. I have no problems and even have a wee bit of room left. See my sig.

Awesome information, guys. That's good news that I won't have to repaint the fenders. I'm going to go get the car aligned in a bit here. I'm gonna go with around -2.5 to -3 or so degrees of camber up front. I definitely use the whole tire at -2.5 degrees. So I figure that much more camber than that will kinda sacrifice braking a bit and I might have to be more aggressive to use the outside of the tire on cornering (no problem).
Appreciate the info!

I know exactly what you mean with there being a ton of information but none of it really being conclusive or clear due to multiple different opinions or answers.
I plan to run the same tire and wheel setup and I have a 1 inch drop with rolled front fenders (not pulled). I've read many say they will fit just fine with at least -2.0 or -2.5 camber and some say they won't fit without a pull.
So what is the final verdict?... Lol. I don't want to pull... And the car is tracked.
Thanks,
Andre

you should be able to get away with just rolling. if your suspension is stiff enough to keep you away from your fenders. most of the guys i know running this set up just rolled and trimmed the fender liner.

Yes I was able to do it without doing any paint work. You probably don't need to flare just run 2 degrees of camber. Look in my sig for my tips on rolling the fronts.
