Question about Fluid Replacement
#11
Perhaps it really has to do with how "extreme" your driving conditions are. I think it's smart to do the fluids frequently if you're tracking a lot.
One thing's for sure, once everything's broken in properly, there's nothing but goodness in keeping clean fluids in the car. I suppose that's just plain obvious.
I didnt' know until recently that folks were recommending changing out diff fluid so soon (first Honda recommendation is 15K miles, I think)... Various folks have been recommending annual or 4K mile intervals, whichever comes first.

Chazmo, do not misunderstand me - I am a firm believer in changing fluids, just not overchanging them. My diff fluid comes out at 1k miles, and the tranny fluid soon after that. I like to remove any casting sand or breakin chards early in the game, and there is some evidence that overfilling the tranny a few squirts is a good idea too.

changed my differential and tranny fluid out at 2k miles. as road rage already pointed it, its good to get rid of the breakin fluid early on. there were numerous metal shavings on the magnetic drain plug from the diff. from that day, i will change these fluids again once a year.
