Default Q ? about vacuum hoses..

In the process of installing a Cusco oil catch can.!
Don't like the looks of the transparent hoses supplied from Cusco;they get dirty looking from oil,(from the inside).
I want to use Silicone vacuum hoses(wich I know is ok,)but want to have some kind of "sightglass"in the line up.!
Do you think,I could use a piece of transparent hose, the same diameter, like "aquarium"hoses, maybe 2 " long to act as a sightglass,or would the vacuum be too strong, and collapse it??
Any other idea?plexiglass?
-Emil.
P.S.:does somebody know if there is some kind of baffle, inside the can? Both inlet and outlet are located on the top part of it.!!!
Also, how do you empty that thing???
Thank's.

There is no baffle inside a Cusco can. It's hollow. The can has a sight tube, so seeing through the hoses isn't needed. I'd use some black fuel hose as it's the most oil resistant unlike some silicone hoses which can swell and get very tacky when exposed to oil.

To empty, you remove the can from it's bracket, and pull the sight tube out, then pour the oil out.

Which one has a baffle? I was told that the Cusco had one...

Correct me if I'm wrong but baffles are better...yes?

For the S.......which aftermarket catch can works the best for FI applications?

I just used my "homemade" versions utilizing two air compressor filters. Worked great in my TT, and equally as well on the S. Baffling in the catch can is necessary, IMO. If there isn't , you can just put steel wool, or you can buy a replaceable crankcase filter available at any local auto parts store.

Here are mine (both using air compressor filter from Sears)-

pcv - manifold - kept the original filter element on the inside
**if you only have one catch can, it should go here. You can also route both pcv/manifolf and crankcase breather by using a Y-split, however, you'll need to cap the inlet at the intake manifold.

about 1500 miles

crankcase breather - (replaced filter element with diposable insert)

This is was from my TT, but it shows the filter element I used.

You can splice a portion of reinforced pvc hose inline with the silcone...look at my TT catchcan above...

You don't need to worry about the hoses collapsing, especially if you have installed the catch can properly, and the pcv is in working order.
