Putting stock shifter back in. Am I missing a part
Well I had a short shifter in my S but decided to go back to the stock shifter for the buttery smooth shifting.
I put my stock shifter assembly back in last night but I guess there was a spacer piece or something I don't have anymore.
I tightened the 3 bolts back up but seems like I am missing a spacer as I can push the shifter down as if in reverse but in any gear so obviously a piece is missing.
Anyone have a picture of all the parts out of the car?
I looked on majestic's site and it looks like it is part number 12 that I am missing but want to check before placing the order.
All I had it seems was the shift lever itself with the rubber boot on it and a metal plate with the 3 holes to bolt in. And had the plastic pieces one the tip and around the pivot point.
Any pics of the whole assembly outside the car would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Part #12 doesn't affect the shifter, it's an insulator for sound. Do you have part #10, the centering spring?
Check Rick's site for Axial Flow installation instructions, great photos of the OEM shifter.

I do have the spring. I am using my short shifter bolts so maybe they are too long or something compared to the oem ones.
I will check Rick's site and take a look.
Ah don't need an insulator thing. Noise is good lol.

Hmm checked the diagram there and I am not missing any parts. Very strange. The only thing I can think of is that the bolts I have are too long or something so wont tighten up enough or something.
I know I put the shifter in the correct way as I have taken one out and in like 20 times so I know how it goes in place.

The metal collar can get loose? Are you talking about the piece that the bolts thread into? I guess I'll open it up and look around again in there and see if I find anything.
Hasn't really caused an issue as it is now but would prefer it to be correct.

As in: you could not do that with the short shifter you had?
I'm using the OEM shifter and I can push it down and get it into 1>6+R while pushed down, all from neutral that is.
So: push it down in neutral and shift into 1st.
Its normal.
And no, you don't get extra hidden gears if you do.

No with the short shifter I could not push down as if going into reverse and then go into any gear. Can't remember how it used to be so many that is how it was but definitely was not like that with the short shifter.
I thought you could only get into reverse when pushing the shifter down.

Go back to the three OEM bolts, they are much shorter than the AF bolts since the OEM plate holding the shifter assembly in place is thin compared to the billet AF plate. I'm guessing the longer bolts are bottoming out and allowing the OEM plate to float from the pressure of the centering spring.
