Putting in new pistion rings
So i did a leakdown and compression test and came up with 2 bad rings and a slightly bent valve... i ordered OEM rings today and i am gonna start pulling off the head soon... im taking the head to the machine shop to get it pressure tested etc. Do i simply replace the rings or do i have to do something called a hone? dont know what that is but i read about it a few times..

If you don't know what a hone is or when to use it, I wouldn't be trying to replace the rings myself. Find someone who has done this kind of work before and have them guide you or watch them do the work.

If you have two bad rings, you are most likely looking at a complete rebuild in the bottom end. Replacing rings and honing while the block is still inside the car, is what the automotive repair industry would call a half ass way to do it.

i see , so once the walls are exposed i can have a pro look at them and see if it will need any attention...if i have to pull out the motor to get better results then thats what i will do...i just didnt know what a hone actually was.
