They were so sure that i wouldnt get a CEL because my Friend has Two Integras Type R which are '97 and '98 and my other friend has a NSX and a Civic and they All have test pipes on thier cars and have no CEL ights but i think that those are before 2000 cars and the newer cars are more Enviroment Thinking than the older ones, electronicly thinking.
Could be some truth to that. No CEL on my 98' NSX w/ headers, test pipes, straight pipe, etc.. on track or off. Thou, on a recent 2004 install it threw right away. ECU revision is the only explanation.

How about I bet you that your CEL comes on within the week?

The cel Came on After I dynoed my car and I put Fuchs Pro boost to see if there is any difference.
The CEL came on while driveing home.
And one interesting Thing is that i Tested the BMC CDA AIRBOX compared to Stock and Acualy gained 5.3 kw peak and about 6nm.
Started a tread and if a picture is posted you can see the Plot.

I dont know about the Megan Test pipe but with the Berks couldnt you just cover up the whole on the test pipe so the sensor doesnt get any of that poluted air? If so, why is there a hole there in the first place?

The sensor HAS to get some exhaust. The ECU needs to interpret a signal that represents a specified range of O2. Below and above this, the ECU thinks there is something wrong. You can't just eliminate all "poluted" air from the sensor. THAT'S why the hole is there in the first place. The premise is that if you move the O2 sensor far enough away and put a small enough hole in front of it, it will record just the right amount of "polution". The only way you can eliminate the hole and NOT plug the sensor in, is to install an electronic O2 simulator.

Hi all,

FWIW, I drive a JDM '99 and I installed a test pipe. I purchased an O2 simulator but only planned on installing the simulator after getting a CEL, but I've already covered 10k kms and yet there's still no CEL. The secondary O2 sensor is plugged into the same location as where it was when the cat was on the exhaust. I suspect that the JDM models may be different to the American models. Almost all the JDM Hondas here don't need the O2 simulator and yet they don't get CELs.

Could be a difference in models and emissions requirements.

Well here it goes.
I dynoed my car yesterday and did some tests by putting a Octane booster to my tank to see if it really makes any difference and it did by the way.
When driveing home the CEL came on and i ad been talking to some friends who have test pipes on their Citroen cars and they said that the CEL was from the Octane booster.
They said that when they use Booster they get Cels and when they put new fuel the CEL go away..
SO i filled up the tank reset the ECU and no CEL.
Will wait if i get it again....

Does the test pipe make your car louder with stock exhaust?
