Your front Camber is at -5? As in -5.0? That would seem very excessive. Perhaps you intended to type -0.5 which would be conservative if you want your car to push less. Other than that the numbers seem ok I think. You could adjust your tire pressures a little (lower up front, higher in back) and set the negative camber in the front in the -1.0 to -2.0 range. I'm sure others here could suggest some good alignment numbers.

My 04 pushes a bit as well and I intend to try to fix it via an alignment but am holding off until I figure out how I want to lower the car.

I would try adjusting tire pressures first. Around 29-30 in the front and 2-3 lbs higher in the rear.

SilverS2KAZ mentioned that his tires were wearing perfectly. 2k on the front and 5k on the rear may not be enough to see exactly how they are wearing unless you get underneath your car and get a real good look. If SilverS2KAZ adds more negative camber in the front, the fronts will definitely wear out considerably faster.

What kind of driving do you do SilverS2KAZ ? If your car is primarily used for driving to work, ect, it may not be worth adjusting the alignment further. If you constantly drive BALLS to the WALLS, then go for ultimate handling.

Turn 6 at my local track can be taken at around 85mph, but only if you wanna get full-lock sideways through turn 7.

If I pull it off, I say every bit of it was planned. If I go agricultural, I just use one of these.

Somehow I have to agree with the original post, as my s2k is showings signs of extreme understeer/ torque steer... The car did NOT exhibit this behavior before.

Even during high speed gear changes the car is extremely loose. The symptoms are most noticeable while taking left hand turns or while there is more weight on the right side of the car.
I can reproduce this behavior at will,

I have had the car looked at by the dealer, a frame/alignment shop and a performance BMW shop.
The alignment IS in spec, and there is signs of worn bushings or other suspension components.

I had the BMW shop take the car for a very short ride and right away the tech went to the right rear lower control arm and said that this is what it feels like may be the problem.

The car has only 25K miles when this started ... I have new OEM tires (3K on them now), and tried many combinations of pressures to alleviate this anomaly with no success.

New Right Rear lower control arm just came in and will be on the car very soon.

My Civic handles better than the S at this point !!

Could a failing diff have any play into this ?? As even driving a straight road and i let on and off the throttle (very gently not hard accel /decel) I feel the car seems to change "angle"... This is definitely felt only in the rear end of the car ... The front end does not move at all.

I jacked the car up yesterday and everything looks tight except for the axles... There seems to be excessive vertical play (1/4 total) on the axles where they connect into the the diff... I am not sure that this is normal and no one that I have taken the car to has even looked at this...


As you can see this symptom is really getting to me ... I can deal with the slight understeer "built in", but I believe that this issue goes a little deeper and adding parts to mask a real problem is not the route I wish to take..


Any clues are much appreciated.
